250 Years and Counting...If Walls Could Talk

#Ifwallscouldtalk #Historic Homes #Northern Neckof Virginia

As our nation looks forward to celebrating its 250th year, much has changed in the last two and one half centuries.  There are however some constants that have remained the same and would be familiar to our nation's founders, even today.  Many of the Historic Homes, Public Buildings and wonderfully preserved Taverns and Landmarks found throughout the Commonwealth have stood the test of time and remain to this day.  They have borne witness to the founding of a nation, the whispers of war, the birth of children, the profoudest loss and also the joy of celebrations.

Since it is people who have made these historic treasures so intriguiging, it is important to tell their story, which is part of the provenance of place.   As a Realtor, specializing in the representation of many notable properties throughout my career, it is a sacred trust to represent a special or iconic property in a manner worthy of it.  We are fortunate, here in Virginia, to still have so many of our historic icons remaining. They are all as unique as the individuals and families who have left their mark in ages past and present.  These properties have a soul and character that cannot be replicated with new construction. Virginia is much more than a state of mind...it is a way of life. Virginia's architectural history is like no other.

Throughout the rural countryside, in the small towns and major estate regions of Virginia, ancient homes still remain, due in large part to those who built them to last and those who have loved them enough to restore and preserve them.  Indian Banks, circa 1699 is a marvelous example of this.  Having stood over 300 years she is poised to witness the future with dignity and grace.
